I glided through the dark forests. My haunches swaying as some light managed to break through the thick branches. Heat stayed as thick layer, my figure diving through it with every motion. Sweat began to pour down my damp hide, my breathe was quick and louder than usual as I panted my way for quite some time. I slowed down to a trot, my journey into these lands being longer than expected. I had been here a day and already have I been dubbed a royal, Queen of the Neutrals. My mother always knew I was something special. The lands before here from which I came were nothing special to me. As I grew up I took my mother's traits. I ventured off from the herd many times a day. My mother doing the same as well, but as I grew older she went in another direction as me. I always had a friend with me, her name vaguely crossed my mind these days. Together, we romped through the lands causing more chaos than you think any two fillies ever cold. My sire was a king at the time, but my blood remained only half royal. My mother was a herd member, nothing more. My sire's only colt was in his high prime. I remember one night, trotting back home with my mother close behind me. A grey coat whipping past me, onto the roan stallion that was my sire. They fought nearly all night, but my sire was older and past his prime, his son was young and at his prime. Everyone ran off with the grey stallion. My mother and I stood there, watching my sire's blood drip down his royal face. his breath was heavy in the silence of the night. The grey stallion's dominant cry echoing off in the distance. I watched as my sire kneeled down and breathed his last breath. That night I parted from my mother, I never saw her again.
I stopped as the forest opened to an open field. Oh great, more heat. I loved nature, and summer was my favorite season, but this was just stupid. My coat was naturally thick, where I recently lived was high in the mountains, colder than anywhere in these lands here. It would take a while for my coat to shed. My mouth was dried with saliva. Flies buzzing around my dial as my opts scanned the terrain around me. I had little clue where I was, and yet my sense of direction seemed to know exactly where to go. I pricked my harks down to a path that led by a few trees. Trees gave you shade, but almost doubled in humidity. I sighed, my body being thrown up into a slow trot as I attempted to save my energy for later on. I did not know what lay ahead. I kept my senses alert the best I could, this harsh weather took a toll on my abled body. Probably not sleeping for many days has something to do with it as well. I was more determined than ever to find this Pool of Power. I was told to go there, nothing else. I had heard some murmurs of the royals venturing there for some sort of initiation. I rather not meet any new equines at the moment. This heat turned me into the most pleasant mood. Some sort of test may be required, therefor I must be at my best. I shook off my bad mood, gaining something of a more pleasant outlook. I ignored the gazes of other equines as I went by.
Soon the day turned into a cooler night. With stars appearing through the clouded skies. The moon was a new moon, I knew my journey ended tonight. My lids drooped a little as the darkness overcame me. The night stood to me as a lullaby, beckoning for me to rest. My body agreed with the gift of sleep, my mind kept me going..barely. My breathe was quieter at this time. My hooves the only noise I could make out in this vast land. A few whinnies and calls as I went by, but seldom were out and about at this time. In my old lands, night was known as a curse. If you were caught wandering at night, you were killed. That of course, never stopped me. I was fearless. I did not fear death or fighting. Anything I faced, I overcame. That was the way I was taught. I was brave, and luckily my mother was as wise as Mother Nature herself. She taught me everything she knew. My coat was envied in my old lands, therefor I was taught how to hide even in a clear field during the day. I mastered that perfectly. She taught me all the plants and trees. How to respect Mother Nature, and she would respect me back. I never disturbed any animal after that. I was taught how to predict weather. How to move through the forest at the swiftest speeds without making a sound. I learned that knowing every inch of the realm was most important. For wolves and such could not smell down rivers, and men could not see down secret valleys and such. Of course men were foolish, their smoke and their yells always gave themselves away to my herd. Of course my mother and I had heard them long before my herd, and we always went to go investigate. My most important lesson was that fear held you back from the most important things in life. It held us back from our true potential. That is why I am dubbed a fearless warrior. That is why I can do anything.
Here everything was different. It seemed to go on forever. Of course not knowing what was around the corner played tricks on my mind. My thirst messed me up often as well. I imagined giant pools of water, and oceans that never ended. Even salt water and sea weed would please me at the moment. I dedicated myself to this journey, eating only when I needed too, and even then I ate very little. I felt a breeze quite quickly as night began to wear out. I picked up a quick canter. Water..Water..breezes mean water! My opts tried to focus, but my vision was blurry. I gained speed. going faster and faster. The beating sounds of my hooves vanishing, as I made no noise at my great speed. I held my breath, I had trouble willing myself to let it go for quite some time. My tail was latched onto my rump with layers of sweat. The night's drop in temperature was not that great, and yet it still gave so much relief. The trees began to get fewer and fewer in number. My curiosity was at its prime. I knew I was there before I even saw it. I came to a dead stop as a pool lay before me. My opts spotted tracks left by a few other equines, coming and going before I have even thought about joining the royals. This pool was like no other I had ever seen. There was something mysterious about it. Something that drew me to it. I stepped forward, my throat screaming for something to eat and drink. The pool was inches from my hooves. My body trembled. I wanted to dive into the pools waves more than anything else. I wanted to scoop up the water in my open maw, and eat the grass that it had nourished. But I held my position. I had no clue what importance this was to this realm, but I knew it was some far greater than any other. I bowed, my dial held next to my extended front leg. I rose up slowly, my vocals soft through the calm night. The moon gazing at me as it did the day I was born, with up most pride and interest. My name is Raj, I have come to serve you. Until the day I die..
